Shelter Health Considerations for Cat Rescuers
This page is for independent cat rescuers who have cats in their homes or an independent facility with multiple cats from a variety of origins.

This page is absolutely not intended to replace veterinary advice! It is merely to educate independent cat rescuers so they are aware of problems that can occur in multiple cat situations. If you know what can happen, you can take steps to avoid it, or know to speak to your veterinarian about special precautions you should take in your home or cat facility.

Instead of working backward (cat gets sick; another cat gets sick; vet is consulted; new protocol is put in place, such as bordetella vaccinations, etc.), this page will hopefully help you look FORWARD, and work with your vet to prevent some of the situations we have found ourselves in in the past.
